Prizes and Grants for Conference Speakers

The Villard Prize, made possible by the generosity of Robert E. Jamison, is given each year to encourage and support the study of medieval art and technology. This $500 award recognizes an outstanding graduate student participating in an AVISTA session at the ICMS in Kalamazoo. AVISTA’s Prize Committee determines the recipient based on the quality of the graduate student’s CV and abstract, submitted at the time of application to the session.

Travel grants will be awarded based on eligibility, demonstrated need, and quality of the submitted CV and abstract. Decisions will be announced in the late fall of the year preceding the conference.
